Look at the hockey quilt I made Elijah to understand a little better. Also you could lay the strips you wish to use for the edge border next to the quilt squares and see which order and combination you like the best. Also you can vary the width of the border that is making them 1" or 1 1/2" or 2" or 3"'s wide...but first you will have to calculate the amount of fabric you have left over to be sure you have enough to do all four sides. I would wait to...Those colours look great together! I would wait to cut the borders until you've got the quilt top sewn together. Then you'll have more of an idea of what you need to balance it out. Otherwise you might cut the border and then not like it once the quilt is done.
